Simon Says Stamp Designer Spotlight - Week 1 - Stamptember

Hello and welcome,

Today I have some really exciting and great news to share. I am so thrilled and very honored to have been invited to be in the Designer Spotlight at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog for September, which is also the very exciting Stamptember. I am also very honored to be featured among so many talented makers.

This weeks challenge is Stamp it. I have used some of Tim Holtz stamps, and made a card for a men who turns 80 years. I think these stamps are just perfect for the occasion.

I started to cut some Distress Mixed media heavystock for the background. Inked my craft mat on my Glass media mat with Distress ink in Frayed Burlap, spritzed with water with my Distress sprayer and then dipped the background in the ink, then heated with my heat tool, repeat until happy. I inked the edges with Distress ink Walnut stain. I stitched the edges with my sewing machine. Then I used the Digits stencil and Frayed burlap Distress ink to get some numbers on the background. Next step was spritzing water and then using Embossing glaze in the new color Prize ribbon. Heat again. Then I used my Splatter brush and some watered Distress ink Prize ribbon and made some splotches.

Now to the stamping, I stamped the "How old?" stamp from Tim´s set CMS432 Inquisitive, with Distress ink Prize ribbon, then added Embossing glaze in the same color, and heated. I also stamped the blue "crosses" from the same set, with Archival ink, Cobalt. The "poststamps" are from CMS225 Correspondence, which I stamped with Archival ink, Plum.
Now it´s time for the main characters on this card, the gentlemen from Inquisitive set, I stamped them on watercolor paper and colored them with different Distress inks and reinkers. I also stamped the "bullseye" from the same set on White Mixed media heavstock, first with Distress Oxide Barn door and one with Distress Oxide Prize ribbon, then I stamped over with Archival ink Black soot, using my Tim Holtz Stamp platform. (This technique I have learned from the very talented Emma Williams, see her blogpost here ).
In each "bullseye" I stamped a black dot from Inquisitive set, and a number from the Correspondence set with Jet black Archival ink. Then I placed and stitched them to the background with my sewing machine. I also used 3D foam under them to get some dimension.

In the monocle I used some Glossy accent. In the left corner I put an Ideaology hexfastener.
The "80" is diecut from chipboard and Mixed media heavystock, from Handmade alphabet. I inked the one´s from heavystock with Prize ribbon Distress Oxide and then Embossing glaze in the same color. Then heated. Then I glued the embossed layer to the chipboard and glued to the card.
I made three other panels to put behind the background, one from blue cardstock, one from sanded and inked Metallic Kraftstock, and one from cardboard from and old shoebox, which I inked with Prize ribbon Distress ink on the edges. I mounted all the layers using 3D foam between the layers for dimension. When mounted together I glued the card to a black card blank.
The size of this card is 14 x 18 cm.

We are hoping you will join in the challenge this week, it would be lovely to see you there and as always, there is a $25 gift voucher for one lucky winner to spend.
