Snarky cat card

Hello and welcome,

It’s not a secret that I love the Snarky cat stamps from Tim Holtz. I think they are so fun and cool.

This card is made with one of the Snarky cats from CMS 392.

I started with the background and cut a piece from Distress Mixedmedia heavystock, and used the microglaze technique from Tim H. I used the stencils THS145 Digits and THS129 Decayed. I used Walnut Stain Distress ink as background color and the same ink around the edges. In the upper left corner I put a tiny fastener.

I stamped some stamp images with Archival ink Jet black and one image with embossing ink. On the one with embossing ink I used Embossing glaze in Speckled egg and heated. The stamp set’s I used are CMS404 Glitch 2, CMS339 Mail art and CMS225 Correspondence. I also used my Splat brush and splattered some black Acrylic paint on the background. I stitched the edges with my sewing machine.
Then I took some more Micro glaze on my finger and rubbed on some of the stamped images, (the cross and the numbers), I did that because I wanted to be able to color these images without getting the background ink to “bleed” through. I heated with my heat tool to get the background permanent before I started to color with Distress Oxides. The cross in Speckled egg and the numbers in Chipped sapphire. I also used my sewing machine to stitch in the cross with red thread.
Then I stamped the snarky 😂 text with a stamp from CMS392 and Archival ink in Jet black on a Distress ink background, then mounted it on Black cardstock with 3D foam for dimension.

Then it was time for the main character, the Snarky cat. I stamped him on watercolor paper and colored him with Distress inks and reinkers. Then I fuzzy cut him.

Before I adhered my cat to the card I took a string and wired around the background a couple of times and finally added a Quote token. I used Distress crayon in Antique linen to get the text more visible on the token.

I mounted the background to a piece of black cardstock and then on a cardboard piece with Walnut stain inked edges, finally to a black card blank, all with 3D foam.

I will try this card in a challenge over at Simon says stamp Monday challenge - Four legged friends.

Thank you very much for your visit, take care,

/ Susanne

Bee card

Hello and welcome,

Today I will show a card with Tim Holtz new die, Funky insects and his new collage paper. I made a birthday card.

Started with Distress White heavystock and inked my Craft mat with Distress Oxide ink in Old paper. I dipped and dried and spritzed water until I was happy with the result.

Then I used the THS145 stencil, Digits, with Distress crackle paste and Embossing glaze in Rustic Wilderness. Let dry completely. Then using my embossing gun to heat set it.

Then I used a stencil THMM with honeycomb pattern (I think I bought that stencil on  Michaels some year when we visited USA, Oh I so longing for travel again🙂. ) and then Microglaze (Tim’s technique). Then I used different colors of Distress Spray stain, for more color on the background.

For the next step I used some torn pieces from Tim’s new Collage paper, Entomology. I used Distress collage medium to glue it to the background. Inked all the edges with Distress ink in Walnut stain, and used a black fine liner pen and lined around the edges. You can see the beautiful bug from the collage paper here.

Then I colored another White heavystock background with different green Distress inks and made some Rusty hinge splats from Distress spray stain. I then cut out a circle with 662229 Stitched circles die. Inked the edges with Rustic wilderness Distress ink. I also die cut the honeycomb piece with 660220 Mixed media, from Kraft heavystock, which I sanded.
The “No 1108” is a remnant rub-Specimen.

The bee itself is from Tim’s new die set 665364 Funky insects. I cut it from White heavystock and colored it the same way as my background with different colors of Distress ink. On the wings I used some Rusty hinge Embossing glaze and when that was heated and cool I used Distress crayon in Walnut stain on the surface, and smudged it out with my lightly damp finger. I also used a white Posca pen to highlight some of the pieces on the bee.
I stamped “Limited edition” from CMS394 Tiny text, with Distress embosssing in k on a sanded piece of black Kraft heavystock and then used white embossing powder and heated.
I stamped a text from CMS236 Crazy talk on the “label” on the same background as the circle die cut, and embossed the text with black embossing powder. Used my fine liner pen again and draw around the edges and mounted the label with 3D foam on a sanded piece of black Kraft heavystock. Then I used long fastener in each end and a piece of inked string and fastened it around my background.
Here you can see the beautiful collage paper in the background again.
I bent the wings on my bee for more dimension. Here you can see the crackle on the digits numbers. I like that look a lot, with the Embossing glaze on top.
I mounted the background on a piece of cardboard which I have inked the edges on with Distress ink in Rustic wilderness, and than mounted to a black card blank.

I will try this card in a challenge over at Simon says stamp Monday challenge, Things with wings.

Have a nice day and thank you very much for visiting me today,

/ Susanne.

At the Oscars

Hello and welcome,

A couple of weeks ago I watched the Oscars award from Los Angeles on tv. And I was inspired to make a tag with that theme. Due to the pandemic it was a very special event, with a limited amount of attendants. I was inspired by the interior where the awards was held, the windows and the pastel colors on the decorative flowers.  I have used Tim Holtz products.

I started with a Small Etcetera tag and glued a piece of the new Kraft stock to it with Distress collage medium. The tag is higher than the Kraft stock so I cut a piece from a second piece of Kraft stock and joined it together with the first at the bottom of the tag. I then sanded the edges. Then I used Distress texture paste opaque matte and the THS147 Deco arch stencil at the top of the tag. I wanted it to look like the windows.

The text “Oscars” is cut with 661815 Deco alphabet from sanded Metallic Kraft stock and also from the new Kraft stock which I also sanded. I inked the edges on the Metallic letters and glued the Kraft stock letters a little bit offset on the Metallic letters. Then I glued them to the background. All glued with Distress collage medium.

I cut a piece of sanded Metallic Kraft stock and glued to the reinforcer. Then I inked it with Walnut stain Distress ink, and cut a piece of the new Idea-ology Velvet trims. I used my mini stapler to hold the trim together. I used some Alcohol ink in Mushroom on the staple. The flowers are from Idea-ology Boquet, which I have colored with a waterbrush and Distress inks. The leaves is from an old Sizzlits die, 659573 Spring greenery, cut from the new Kraft stock. Also sanded.

I cut the Piqture wheel with 668558 die, from Distress Kraft heavystock, inked the edges with Walnut stain Distress ink. I stamped the “countdown” stamp from CMS081 At the movies, on Distress mixed media heavystock with Alcohol ink in Jet black, inked the strip with the new Salvaged patina and Walnut stain Distress inks. Then I cut the strip in pieces and glued the numbers in the “windows” on the Piqture wheel. I also stamped the wheel with a small stamp from CMS412 Examinations.
The word “Nominees” are cut from Metallic Kraft stock with another old Sizzlits die, Typeset, 657176. Then I painted the letters with Salvaged patina Distress paint, and then zip inked them with Walnut stain Distress ink. I glued the letters on a piece of sanded Kraft stock piece. I love the surface on the new Kraft stock.
The ladies who are the “Nominees” for the Oscar for best actress are photos from Idea-ology, Photobooth, I glued them to chip board to get them more sturdy, and for some dimension.
Here you can see the reinforcer and flowers.

“Best actress” is done in the exact same way as the “Nominees” letters. The frame around is the leftover from when I cut the star border with the 3D embossing folder which I will describe further down. Here you can see that I used the “countdown” strip again. I stamped it on Mixed media heavystock and the I glued a Idea-ology Film strip over it. I used two hardware heads on each side of the strip. The hardware heads are colored with Alcohol ink in Mushroom.
The starborder is cut from sanded Metallic Kraft stock with the 3D impresslits embossing folder Star trim  from Sizzix. I used the leftover as a frame, (described above). I used a layer of Salvaged patina Distress paint on the border and then I wiped some of it away. Then I used some Distress crayon in Walnut stain to “age” it a bit. I glued a Idea-ology Quote flair to the border.
“1930” is Idea-ology Numeric, which I painted with Salvaged patina Distress paint and then I used a waterbrush and Distress crayon in Walnut stain and painted over for an “aged” look. I did the same with the stars, but they was painted white and then I mixed Rusty hinge, Crackling campfire and Walnut stain crayons on top.

I used a stamp from At the movies set for the background on the lover piece of the tag, stamped with Archival ink in Jet black.
It was really fun to make this tag.

I will try this tag over at Simon says stamps Monday challenge -Feminine.

Take care, and thank you so much for visiting my blog.
