Hello and welcome,
Today I will share a card inspired from the latest challenge over at Simon says stamp blog, with the theme “Masquline”. I like to make masculine cards and the grungy look.
For this card I have used products from Tim Holtz and Deco art. Techniques from Tim Holtz and Andy Skinner.
This is how it ended up:
I started with the tag, using the Digits THS145 stencil and some Micro glaze. Then I sprayed the tag with Distress spray stains, Peeeled paint, Iced spruce and Rusty hinge. Then heated. The Micro glaze resist the inks and gives a very cool effect. Then I used Distress grit paste translucent around the edges of the tag, when dry I used Distress crayon in Walnut stain over the paste.
Then it was time for the background. I cut a piece of silver metallic Kraftstock and used it with the Mechanics 3D embossing folder. Then I sanded it and “stippled” brown acrylic paint over the surface. I applied translucent Grit paste around the edges, let dry, then applied dark grey acrylic paint. Let dry. Last step was to apply a thin layer of Quinacridone gold over the grit paste and also on some places over the background. That makes the grungy rusty effect. Learned from the talented Andy Skinner.
I have used the same rust technique on the Machinery head and the “volt meter” from Ideaology. I also sanded the “volt meter”. The “ Loyalty” piece is an old Ideaology sticker.
I sprayed a piece of Mummy cloth with Distress sprays stains and put it in the tag hole.
I hand stitched 3 crosses with blue thread.
The ruler piece that I have used as a bench for the two gentlemen is a piece of Ideaology layers - Urban. I sanded the ruler, glued it to a piece of chipboard and then did the same rust treatment as mentioned above.
Here you can see one of the hand stitched crosses. And some of the rust.
The paper dolls are colored with a brush, some water and Distress crayons.
I stamped an inked piece of paper with “No 161” from CMS225 Correspondence, put it in an Index clip and then on to the card. The clip is painted with acrylic paints, brown, grey and “Quin gold”.
When finished I mounted the card on a piece of inked cardboard, then on a sanded Kraft cardstock (black) piece with 3D foam for dimension.
